Praying the Power of the Psalms – Psalm 117
Day 29 – Psalm 117
1 Praise the Lord, all nations!Extol Him, all peoples!2 For great is His steadfast love toward us,and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever.Praise the Lord!
Prayer of Reflection:
“Dear Most Gracious Heavenly Father,
As I sit here meditating on this short Psalm on this beautiful November day, I am reminded that sometimes we do not need a lot of words to praise You for who You are. Sometimes our praise can come from just sitting, being still, and looking at all You have created, including my own life, and realizing with thankfulness how great Your love is toward all mankind. A love based in Your complete faithfulness toward all You have spoken into existence. An incomprehensible love we are so undeserving of, but yet, a love You freely give to all of us no matter what we have done or will do. Wow! What an amazing truth and steadfast promise! So, yes, I will praise You most gracious and merciful LORD for this enduring love You have given me for all eternity.

“I thank you for loving an undeserving sinner like me and for reminding me that nothing will be able to separate me from Your enduring, faithful love through Christ Jesus. Thank you that the truth of the Psalmist’s words written thousands of years ago in this beautiful, little hallelujah hymn is still the same truth today and will be for all eternity. My life has been forever changed because of this great love and Your faithfulness!
“Now may my heart always find peace, comfort, and rest in this undeniable truth and in Your loving arms every day, and may I go forth with an attitude of praise in my own life for all to see Your great love reflected through me for Your glory! I love you! In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

PRAYER OF CONFESSION AND ASKING FOR FORGIVENESS
This is a prayer based on Psalm 51, which can be used as part of an act of confession.
Excerpt from the prayer:
Have mercy on us, O Lord,
according to your incomparable, extraordinary love.
You know about our wrongs and our mistakes and our brokenness.
Cleanse us through and through, renew us, and revive us.
Help us to forgive ourselves, for we are aware of our flaws and frailties,
and save us from false guilt, and from putting ourselves down.
according to your incomparable, extraordinary love.
You know about our wrongs and our mistakes and our brokenness.
Cleanse us through and through, renew us, and revive us.
Help us to forgive ourselves, for we are aware of our flaws and frailties,
and save us from false guilt, and from putting ourselves down.
We get things wrong, we know this, and we hurt you and others.
We are people with soiled hands and feet of clay.
Capable of great things, and of destructive things,
capable of healing and harm.
And you desire the best for us, you offer us a hope and a future.
Help us to face the truth about ourselves, and about you,
and as we do this we offer you our failures and successes,
our weakness and strengths, our dreams and nightmares...
We are people with soiled hands and feet of clay.
Capable of great things, and of destructive things,
capable of healing and harm.
And you desire the best for us, you offer us a hope and a future.

A PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Father,
I come before you grieved and broken by conviction of sin. I feel the weight of that conviction pressing down on me. I agree with the psalmist that it feels like my bones have been crushed. I feel far from you and desire to return to the joy of in being in your presence.
Against you have I sinned. Every sin is a rejection of you as God. It is treason against the King of the universe. Forgive me for my wayward heart. Forgive me for turning to false loves and for seeking life apart from you. Forgive me for not loving others the way that you have loved me. Forgive me for violating your commands. Forgive me for pride and self-righteousness. Forgive me for not loving you with all my heart, mind, and soul.
Through the blood of Christ shed for me, I ask for forgiveness. I thank you that because of Christ, you look at me and see his blood covering my sin. You also see his righteousness; you see his holy life and credit it to me. And because of Jesus, I am united to his Spirit and he is at work in me. Holy Spirit, help me to turn from my sin. Help me to love you with all of my heart. I pray with the psalmist, “Create in me a clean heart O God, and renew a right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10). Cleanse me and make me new. Conform me to your will. Help me to image Christ.
Because of your forgiveness and grace for me in Christ, I pray that I would do as David wrote, “…my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness. O Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will declare your praise” (Psalm 51:14-15). May your grace for me compel me to sing your praises and testify of your grace to others.
In Jesus’ name, amen.

Praying the Psalms -Psalm 130-
Summer is here, and for me summer is the time to study the Psalms in depth. Last year I used Calvin’s commentary as my guide; and this summer I will be led through them by Spurgeon. This week I have been meditating on Psalm 130, and as I read Spurgeon’s commentary, I was impressed on the richness of this wonderful Psalm, and how much I need to pray it. This Lord’s day my prayer is based on this Psalm as well as on Spurgeon’s reflections.
My Soul Waits for the LordA Song of Ascents.Out of the depths I cry to you, O LORD!
Father of Lights, All Merciful King, let my life be a progression, an ascent to you. Never going back, but always growing, always from glory to glory until the day I see your face and find my joy fulfilled. Oh LORD, that I may always cry to you, no matter where I might be, no matter how depth the valley or how scary the storm; that you may always hear my voice calling your name which is mighty to save at all times. Let me walk this week whispering prayers, laying down at your feet, with an audible voice, my cares, my concerns, the deepest longings of my heart knowing that you hear me.
O Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my pleas for mercy!
Hear me, hear my prayer, O Father! To know that you hear my prayer is my only hope, my only comfort in the valley. That I may not forget that you are a God who delights in hearing the prayer of his people, of his children! Lord, open my mouth, that I may utter all day prayers before you! Why should I keep quiet if you hear me? Why should I remain silent if my Heavenly Father has ears for my prayers?
If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness,
that you may be feared.
Father, it is true, “none fear the LORD like those who have experienced his forgiving love. Gratitude for pardon produces far more fear and reverence for God than all the dread which is inspired by punishment” O God, amen, I fear your name, which is holy, because of your amazing grace has been manifested to me. You have seen my heart, you have searched within me and have not found anything good in me; yet, in spite of all my iniquities and for the sake of Jesus Christ, my Mediator, it has pleased you not to count me among the condemned, among those who have no hope; you have not marked all my iniquities, and now in Jesus I can stand before the Most Holy and find forgiveness. I bow with all reverence and fear your goodness.
I wait for the LORD, my soul waits,
and in his word I hope;
my soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen for the morning,
more than watchmen for the morning.
Father, because I know that you hear me, I can now wait on You knowing that if it pleases You to make me wait, I will wait with all my heart because those who wait on the Lord are blessed indeed! Help me remember that the waiting itself is beneficial for my soul as it “tries my faith, helps me exercise patience, trains me in submission, and helps me endear the blessing when it comes.” Father, help me to persevere as I wait on you in the study of your Holy Word and prayer, because “Your Word O LORD, is a firm ground for a waiting soul to rest upon.” Father, give me the determination to wake up early every day, strengthen my body that I may wake up before my family, to pray earnestly for each one of them. That I may not be distracted by anything! That my first words every day bring glory to you. Lord, I want to seek you diligently, with all perseverance, wholeheartedly; I want to wait for you even more than the watchman for the morning.
O Israel, hope in the LORD!
For with the LORD there is steadfast love,
and with him is plentiful redemption.
And he will redeem Israel
from all his iniquities.
God, you are my only hope; in you alone is steadfast love, and plentiful redemption! You have crowned me with these three, what else should I want?
I love you, O Lord, my Redeemer!

Psalm 52 ~ Praying God's Word
Please read Psalm 52.
Meditate on verse 1.
Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man?
The lovingkindness of God endures all day long.
Read 1 Samuel 21 and 22 to understand the events surrounding this Psalm of David.
David was in the midst of wicked people. They were workers of deceit who loved evil and falsehood (Psalm 52:2-3). David could have been describing people you hear about in the news today. These workers of deceit were part of David’s life. Notice how David hunkered down in the Truth of God in the midst of the evil around him.
But God will break you down forever;
He will snatch you up and tear you away from your tent,
and uproot you from the land of the living.
The righteous will see and fear, and will laugh at him, saying,
“Behold, the man who would not make God his refuge,
but trusted in the abundance of his riches
and was strong in his evil desire.”
—Psalm 52:5-7
As wickedness whirls around the world today, it more important than ever to know God and His Word and to meditate on His Truths day and night (Psalm 1:3). Say, like David did, “I trust in the lovingkindness of God forever and ever” (Psalm 52:8b).
Pray Psalm 52:8-9 over yourself and those for whom you stand guard as a faithful, prayerful watchman (Isaiah 62:6-7).
“God, make _______ and me a green olive tree in Your house.
We trust in Your lovingkindness forever and ever.
We will give You thanks forever because You have done it.
We will wait on Your name, for it is good, in the presence of Your Godly ones.
In Your name, Jesus~”
Dear God,
Thank you that you are our good Shepherd and we can trust you with our lives. Thank you for your leadership and Sovereignty. Thank you for your guidance and care in all our days. Thank you that you restore our souls, give us peace, and bring us hope in all of our tomorrows. Thank you for your protection and strength that surrounds us like a shield. Thank you that we never have to fear. Thank you for your goodness and love that follows after us, chases us, even when were unaware. Thank you Lord, that you trustworthy and able, that you are our Refuge and hope.
In You alone is rest and peace. We praise you for the assurance that we will dwell with you forever.
In Jesus' Name,
Amen.
PSALM 7 -DEPENDENCE ON GOD
Heavenly Father, thank You for the example that David set when he was pursued by his enemies; falsely accused and persecuted for righteousness' sake. Thank You that our hope is in You and that You are "the Lord our righteousness. Thank You for Your promise to vindicate all Your people who are unjustly accused, or have been hotly pursued by the enemy of our soul. Give me a heart that trusts You no matter what difficulties or dangers may cross my path and I pray that like David, my hope will be built on nothing less than the Lord Jesus Christ and His perfect righteousness. Thank You that my salvation does not depend on what I have done but on Who Christ is and what He has done on my account. In Jesus' name I pray, AMEN.
“{Shiggaion of David, which he sang unto the LORD, concerning the words of Cush the Benjamite.} O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:”

Praying through Psalm 7:9
How we praise and thank You Father that the evil of wicked men will one day be judged and those that have been accused unjustly by people who are at enmity with God will one day be vindicated. Thank You that Christ's death on the cross conquered sin and death and that all who trust in Christ as Saviour will one day be exonerated. Help me to patiently endure in these increasingly dark days and may my life be pleasing to the Lord - in Whose name I pray, AMEN.
“Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.”

PSALM 27- TOTAL DEPENDENCE ON GOD
TODAY’S PRAYER POINTS BY MIKE PRAH
Begin with praising the name of the Lord. God instructs us to enter His Presence with thanksgiving and praise.
Today’s prayer is based on the Prophet David’s prayer from Psalm 27.
“THE LORD IS MY LIGHT AND MY SALVATION; I will fear no one. THE LORD PROTECTS ME from all danger; I will never be afraid. 2 When evil people attack me and try to kill me, they stumble and fall. 3 Even if a whole army surrounds me, I will not be afraid; even if enemies attack me, I will still trust God. 4 I have asked the Lord for one thing … to live in the Lord’s house all my life, to marvel there at His goodness, and to ask for His guidance. 5 In times of trouble He will shelter me; He will keep me safe in His Temple and make me secure on a high rock. 6 So I will triumph over my enemies around me … 10 the Lord will take care of me. 11 Teach me, Lord, what you want me to do, and lead me along a safe path, because I have many enemies. 13 I know that I will live to see the Lord’s goodness in this present life.” (Psalm 27:1-6,10-13, GN)
This prayer is based on trusting and claiming the victory in God’s names – The Lord is my light, my salvation and my protection. Pray these prayer points over your life by faith from the above Scripture.
